Christian Science was brought to my attention several...
Christian Science was brought to my attention several years ago, when a friend handed me two copies of the Christian Science Sentinel, saying, "Here is something good; you will enjoy reading these." When I began reading them it was frankly out of curiosity. However, in a short time this curiosity turned to wonder, and, as I read the articles, the editorials, and the grateful testimonies of healing by Christian Scientists from all over the world, my wonder deepened into the keenest interest. In rereading each article many times I found Scriptural references and correlative passages from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. At that time the Bible was a daily companion of mine, but the Christian Science textbook was almost wholly unknown to me. As my interest deepened, the desire to read this textbook became uppermost with me, and very shortly I sent for a copy.
Here, indeed, I found a "good gift" and a "perfect gift," such as we read about in the first chapter of James, a gift which revealed to me the allness of God, good, a God who is at hand and "a very present help in trouble," a loving Father, who gives only good to His children, and who is unchanging Love. After I had been reading the textbook for two weeks I realized that a boil on my right cheek had entirely disappeared—when, I could not remember, for I had been absorbed in reading this wonderful book.
Christian Science has healed me many times, not only of physical diseases but of faulty traits of character; it has freed me from grief and a belief of separation, and enabled me to find a position.
