Daily News,

A correspondent of your good paper, writing recently under the caption "Public Pulse," has sought to associate Christian Science with a number of the philosophies and doctrines, and then to classify them all as false cults.

Christian Science, strictly speaking, is not a cult. In the year 1866, Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and author of its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," recognized the Science of Christianity which lay behind the marvelously successful healing work of the great master Christian, Christ Jesus.

Impelled by fidelity to her great discovery, and a constant desire to make it available to universal humanity, Mrs. Eddy set out in the year 1879 "to organize a church designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing" (Church Manual, p. 17).

Thus has been established a complete Christianly scientific religion based upon the Bible, capable of proof by present demonstration, as witness a great and grateful host of men and women who have been healed through its means.
