"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," are the first lines (p. vii) of the Preface to the textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. Thus the opening sentence contains a healing message.

Christian Science has been my only help and guide for twenty-five years. It has healed me of many erroneous conditions. I did not come into it through any desire for healing, but more out of curiosity, for my wife had previously been healed through Christian Science.

A short time after coming into Science I was permanently healed of chronic sick headaches, which always necessitated my going to bed. Twenty-one years ago I was healed of the smoking habit. These healings came without the aid of a practitioner, but through the study and application of truths contained in the textbook.
