Right View of Work

When Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you," he directed thought in the right way for healing work. Mary Baker Eddy says (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 291), "Heaven is not a locality, but a divine state of Mind in which all the manifestations of Mind are harmonious and immortal, because sin is not there and man is found having no righteousness of his own, but in possession of 'the mind of the Lord,' as the Scripture says."

To be conscious of "the kingdom of God," to enjoy heaven, is to know the truth about real being, as taught in Christian Science. In the kingdom of heaven there are no misconceptions, no sinful thinking. Herein the ideas of divine Principle express peace, order, right activity, and joy.

Mankind, to a large extent, needs to be healed of a misconception regarding work. This healing can be brought about through Christian Science. Too often the thought of work is fatigue, fear, and drudgery. Christian Science turns thought away from materiality and its false concepts to the contemplation of the spiritual kingdom, to the reign of divine Mind, to find that all right work is joyful activity. The Christian Scientist, going about his daily duties, should remember the words of our Leader (Message to The Mother Church for 1900, p. 2), "The song of Christian Science is, 'Work—work—work—watch and pray.'"
