With a joyful heart and with great gratitude I should like to tell of a wonderful healing which came to me through Christian Science.

In August, 1936, I was stung in the left arm by a poisonous insect. Shortly after that I felt violent pain, and the condition grew worse. I went to a doctor, who took me at once to the hospital. Because the condition looked very bad, an operation was performed on me the next day. I was then instructed to return at the consultation hour every day. After two days the whole arm was badly swollen and discolored.

A kind woman whom I met on the street asked me what was the matter, whereupon I cried and told her my difficulties. She comforted me with loving words, and stated that she knew there was help for me if I had the necessary trust in God. When I went to the hospital, the doctor told me that I must remain there. I refused and went away again. I found the woman and learned of Christian Science from her. What she said appealed to me very much, and we went to see a Christian Science practitioner. The truth of being was clearly explained to me and a copy of the Herald, German edition, was given me. I read it thoroughly. That night I was able to sleep again for the first time. When I awoke in the morning I felt that I was healed. The pain and swelling had disappeared, and the color of the skin was normal again.
