I have noted an article in a recent issue, and inasmuch as the information contained therein might indicate that Christian Scientists are not Christians and do not practice the Golden Rule, I should appreciate space in your paper to correct any false opinions which may have been formed by the readers of this article.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has definitely stated the rules under which Christian Scientists must live and practice. On page 219 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" she makes the following statement: "I have expressed my opinion publicly as to the precautions against the spread of so-called infectious and contagious diseases in the following words:—'Rather than quarrel over vaccination, I recommend, if the law demand, that an individual submit to this process, that he obey the law, and then appeal to the gospel to save him from bad physical results.'"

Christian Scientists endeavor to obey the law of the land. They report cases of contagious disease to the proper authorities when the law so requires.
