Christian Science has opened a door which had been...
Christian Science has opened a door which had been closed by my misunderstanding of God. As a member of an orthodox church, I had accepted the belief that God is the author of both good and evil. Through the study of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, also her other writings, and the light which they throw on the Scriptures, the Bible has become an open book to me.
We have had many healings through Christian Science in our home, and in the bringing up of our four children. Our eldest boy was beautifully protected. I knew that he was with some other boys, one morning, playing with an ole car. The thought came to me, What if he tries to crank that car, and it kicks back? It may result in a broken arm. Then I realized that this was only an evil suggestion, not the truth, and I denied it immediately, knowing that such an accident could not happen to God's child, for he is perfect. I was most grateful that I was alert enough to correct this suggestion of mortal mind. When I arrived home at suppertime the boy came in, his right arm hanging limp and quite swollen. The very thing that had come to my thought seemed to have taken place, but protective work had been done, and the arm had not been broken. We then denied the material sense with the spiritual fact of being, and in two or three days he was healed. We are more grateful every day for the wonderful truth which protects as well as heals.
I have been healed of grippe, which used to present itself each winter. I had the help of a practitioner, and it has never returned. I have also been healed of smoking and the use of profanity through reading our textbook. Our healings are realized more quickly when we are willing to give up so-called pleasures of mortal mind.
