"Dwelling in 'the secret place'"

To increasing numbers of weary mortals who are turning in dismay from the uncertainties and turmoils of the human scene, Christian Science opens up a glorious vista of new hopes. To those who are ready to discard the mortal and illusory it is saying, There is a refuge from all human conflict, whether manifested in physical warfare or in the petty clashes of human will in the daily affairs of mankind; there is peace to be found amid seeming chaos, abundance where poverty and depression apparently reign. That men are actuated by a selfish desire for mere self-preservation from the vicissitudes of chance and change, with all their attendant fears, is a false claim. Here and now one can recognize his divine sonship, and prove the allness of Mind; and this is his only real protection, his only way of salvation.

In the light of Christian Science, the Biblical promises of protection contain more than the mere comfort of beautiful poetic imagery. Expressed in Oriental symbolism, they nevertheless embody divine truths which are the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Mary Baker Eddy's discovery of the scientific laws underlying all creation has made fulfillment of these promises a practical possibility. Evil, whether it seems to be an individual or a world-wide condition, is false, unreal; and when we dwell mentally "in the secret place of the most High," the consciousness of the spiritual truth of being, we realize God's ever-presence, and experience the promised peace of "the shadow of the Almighty."
