Deepest gratitude compels me to testify to my healings in Christian Science and to the peace which has come to me through this wonderful religion.

Prior to my study of Christian Science I had spent many years desperately seeking relief. I suffered from painful stomach and intestinal disorders, severe nervousness, physical weakness, and frequent attacks of colds and influenza. I was treated by famous specialists in Germany, France, and the United States, underwent lengthy cures at sanitariums, but did not find more than temporary relief at the most. I lost all interest in living, and faith in material remedies. My most fervent prayer was for rest. The answer to my prayer came six years ago. Shortly after finishing a several weeks' course of diet and medical treatments for colitis, I was suffering from another severe attack of this painful ailment, and a friend asked me why I did not try Christian Science, since I seemed to have tried everything else.

I bought an English edition of Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, not knowing that I could have procured a German translation. I was not very familiar with the English language, but made myself read several pages each day faithfully. My healings were very slow and came proportionately as I gained a better understanding of God through an earnest study of the Bible in connection with Mrs. Eddy's writings.
