Spirit Knows No Warfare
In these days of wars and rumors of war it is well that Christian Scientists clearly understand the unreal nature of war and of the realm of its seeming activity. In considering this subject, as well as every other subject, they must begin with the instruction given by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 172): "The first and fundamental rule of Science must be understood and adhered to; namely, the oft-repeated declaration in Scripture that God is good; hence, good is omnipotent and omnipresent."
The Scriptures declare that "God is a Spirit;" that "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." God, Spirit, being omnipotent and omnipresent, is necessarily infinite. Being infinite, Spirit, Truth, can have no opposite, no opposition, no opposer. Spirit is conscious only of the uninterrupted activity of its own perfection, expressed in divine qualities and ideas. It is conscious only of its own infinity of goodness. Spirit is never at war, never engaged in a struggle. It knows nothing unlike itself with which or for which to struggle. This spiritual fact, known and demonstrated individually by students of Christian Science, is helping the world collectively—nationally and internationally.
God, omnipotent Mind, through spiritual law, maintains the universe, including man, as His spiritual reflection or expression. Thus the universe of God's creating, the only universe there is, is spiritual, perfectly supplied and equipped, intact and complete. This universe, serene in the light and law of God's goodness and power, remains forever at peace, unharried, unscarred, unclouded by war or rumors of war.
