It must have been about thirty years ago that I learned of Christian Science, when a dear sister was healed. She lived in London, and on visiting her I found her suffering from a nervous breakdown and, as I thought, on the brink of the grave. Some months later she visited Denmark, entirely well. This was to me such a joyful experience that I almost forgot to welcome her, in my eager inquiry as to how this seeming miracle had come to pass. "It is Christian Science," she answered, adding, "Read for yourself"; and she handed me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

This led me to the study of this wonderful book, a study which leads to the knowledge of infinite God and of man as His image. Christian Science has opened the Bible to me; has taught me to love it, and to love God and Christ Jesus; and it has given me an understanding of God's love. Ought I not to be deeply grateful?

Moreover, I owe to Christian Science the years which have been added to my earthly existence. From childhood I had been nervous and frail. To alleviate pain, I used powders in large doses. When one lost its effect I tried a new one, until my whole system was weakened. But I threw away the powders, and gradually, as my understanding grew, and my thoughts were turned away from matter to the spiritual and only real existence, I was restored to health. By degrees many demonstrations were made. Colds and attacks of influenza became less and less frequent. Health became normal, and with it came joy, happiness, gratitude.
