God's Way

Hardest of all it was for me
to learn the way to grow in grace
with willing heart; to wake and see
God's way, and to His will give place.
My way seemed very good, and why
it could not be, vexed me, until
I learned, at length, to put self by
and joyfully accept God's will.
For those who listen for His voice,
and pray that He shall guide their life
aright, there is release from strife;
and proofs of goodness, day by day,
show they are walking in the way
that leads to Him, and they rejoice.
