Unfoldment

Christian Science brings to humanity a great spiritual light, which illumines thought and clears away the shadows of mortality. Mary Baker Eddy says (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 95), "Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth."

Have we not seen how the sense of time, which youth usually meets with an eager looking forward, weighs upon maturer years with suggestions of a past which is gone and a future which is to be feared? The apparently evanescent "now" is circumscribed and overshadowed. There are those whose day seems darkening, and for them, as indeed for all, the understanding of eternal spiritual unfoldment and harmony is essential.

The progressive understanding of Life, God, is eternal unfoldment. It is growth—continuous, never ending. God's universe of ideas is perfect, and always has been—complete, finished, yet ever active. God is ever manifesting Himself; and our true spiritual selfhood is continually reflecting that which is and always has been.
