In March, 1926, I fell and broke my hip. Since I was living with a son and his wife who were not interested in Christian Science, a surgeon was called. He said that it was impossible to set the hip because the bones were porous, and therefore would never knit, and that because of my advanced age I would die from the shock.
A friend who was interested in Christian Science visited me. She called a practitioner, who came immediately and assured me of God's presence and power to heal, quoting verses from the Bible and citations from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The practitioner gave me treatment for about eight weeks. In seven weeks I walked with the aid of crutches, and in seven more, walked without them, relying solely upon the promise in the Bible, "Underneath are the everlasting arms."
I attend Christian Science services regularly and am grateful for all the benefits I have received through the services and through the study of the Bible and Science and Health. God's love has been proved to me many times in many ways. Through Mrs. Eddy's writings the Bible has been opened to me and has become a practical guide for living, and I wish to express my gratitude to her.
