I was healed in Christian Science, many years ago, of intense nervousness and worry, migraine, dyspepsia, hay fever, and bronchial asthma. The asthma was of such seeming severity that I was seldom able to lie flat during the winter months. These and other ailments and afflictions, the very existence of which I have mercifully forgotten, were all swept away by Christian Science treatment. They were gone. And in my great spiritual awakening it was as if a light had flooded a dark room.
It had been for me a long search. During fourteen years of invalidism I had sought to find and know the God "who healeth all thy diseases." My home, for much of this time, was in our national capital, where I had access to the Congressional Library. Religious and philosophical books were my constant reading, but I found little to comfort me and nothing to heal me.
Because of my failing health, on medical advice we left Washington and returned to my husband's former home in the South. He had been healed in Christian Science, before I knew him, of a running condition in the ear, which medical treatment had failed to alleviate, and which, according to his doctor, was of the utmost gravity. I had heard of this healing, but had dismissed it from consideration, for I thought I knew from my reading that I did not want Christian Science. I thought I knew I was sick; I thought I knew I was miserable; I thought I knew that Christian Science could not help me.
