"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,...

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." A great burden of worry and fear fell away from me when I took up the study of Christian Science. In 1924 a friend met me one day and said, "The only thing I know for you is Christian Science." I had never heard the name before. This friend, who knew the discord I was going through at the time, went with me to the Reading Room, and showed me how I could borrow the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. While reading this book I received a healing of a finger I had injured twelve years before. I do not know when this healing took place, but on the third day of my reading I found that my finger was completely healed. I cannot say in words how thankful I was. Nor can I ever forget the first Wednesday evening testimony meeting I attended. The peace and harmony I found there filled my starved consciousness with such gratitude that I could have stayed there all night. Never had I felt such an uplifted thought.

We have had many healings in our home. My husband, who suffered from rheumatism, was complaining about this one day, when I said to myself, "Thank God this man I see is not the real man; the real man is indestructible, holy, pure, and good;" and as I worked in this quiet way, and held to the truth, he was completely healed, and there was no further need for liniment or drugs. This healing has been permanent. My son has been healed of many inharmonious conditions, among them bronchial asthma, poisoned leg, and ptomaine (toxic) poisoning.

I myself received a wonderful healing in healing December, 1936. While using an electric washing machine I had turned on the wringer. After tightening it up, I put out my hand to see in which direction it was turning, and my hand was drawn in up to the palm before I could apply the emergency release. When I drew out my hand it was badly lacerated where the fingers join the hand. I bound it up as best I could and ran upstairs to a practitioner who was in the house at the time. She worked for me at once. The only words I could think of at the time were, "God is my Life."
