If God Is All

If God is All, whence comes this veil of darkness;
Whence come this terror and this starless night?
Awake, arise, thy Father is beside thee,
Transforming all the shadow into light.

If God is All, whence comes this anxious pleading;
Whence come this sadness and this needless strife?
For Love divine thy hungry heart is feeding
Eternally with bread of Truth and Life.

If God is All, how can we fear the morrow?
The day of God is always just at hand,
Outshining sin and suffering and sorrow;
"Let there be light" is His divine command.

Our light is come, and clearer shines this morning
Than any view to mortal sense displayed.
Our God is All! Within this perfect dawning
Stands man beloved, victorious, unafraid!
