For the peace, joy, health, and happiness which are mine...

For the peace, joy, health, and happiness which are mine through the study and application of Christian Science, I wish to express my sincere gratitude. Before I took up this study I was sick, miserable, and unhappy. I knew very little about the Bible, and less about God, for I had been brought up with very little religious teaching. I had had two major operations in one year. At the end of the second year I found myself no better; in fact, I was getting worse. I realized that I had gone as far as I could with doctors, for I had lost faith in them, and was discouraged and disillusioned with their line of work. So I decided to investigate Christian Science in the hope that it might help me.

I borrowed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, from a friend. Before I finished reading the chapter on Prayer I felt so uplifted and full of hope that I knew I had found the "pearl of great price." I completed my reading of the book in a few days, I was so eager to find what was in it. I then called on a practitioner to help me, and was healed almost immediately of stomach trouble and of the belief that food could hurt me. I was so overjoyed at the healing that I wanted to learn more about this wonderful religion. I had never read the Bible, but now I had a strong desire to do so. I bought a Christian Science Quarterly and began to study in earnest. Then came the desire to go to church, which I did. Later I joined The Mother Church, then a branch church. To find that God is Love and ever present, and that I can turn to Him and rest completely in His loving care, was a beautiful discovery to me. Thus I have been made over by the renewing of my mind.

All this has come to me through my accepting Christian Science. My love for God, for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, is unbounded. I am thankful for the periodicals, Reading Rooms, lectures, practitioners, radio programs, the church services and the privilege of attending them, and for every activity of the Christian Science movement. My most earnest desire is to live so that my light will shine and help others on their way, and that I may be deserving of the name "Christian Scientist." — (Mrs.) Margaret Hodge, Sumner, Washington.
