After thirty-five years of studying Christian Science,...
After thirty-five years of studying Christian Science, I wish to add my humble testimony of gratitude for all that it has done and is doing for me. The seed was sown in our family about 1879, during the period when our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, was organizing the Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. At that time a relative became interested in Christian Science, often heard Mrs. Eddy preach, and was healed of a troublesome ailment. Years afterward, in 1903, we became interested in Christian Science through the healing of another relative. As a result of my mother's interest at that later period, I entered the Sunday school of The Mother Church, attending its sessions in the Original Edifice before the erection of the Extension. Since then Christian Science has been my only physician and the fundamental inspiration of my life.
I have experienced many healings, general good health, and a constant sense of protection all through the intervening years. Above all, I am supremely grateful for the spiritual uplifting afforded by this great revelation. Christian Science has met all my human needs and has enabled me to follow my professional career as a musician, proving God to be a constant source of supply, even though at times a sense of financial lack threatened to prevent me from continuing in my chosen work. I have been able, nevertheless, to achieve certain goals in my career which from boyhood I had desired to accomplish.
Among physical healings received was one of a sever case of ptomaine poisoning (toxic poisoning). The difficulty was entirely overcome within a few hours, through the work of a practitioner. Also a nervous condition, manifested as an irritation of the skin, which persisted for several weeks, was finally overcome. Healings too numerous to mention have occurred in our household. My parents both shared in these blessings, my father being healed of pneumonia, erysipelas, and the tobacco habit. I myself have been able to make many demonstrations over untoward conditions, for which I am grateful.
