About four years ago, while we were traveling in our automobile, something gave way in the rear wheel. My husband lost control of the car and it turned over. He and our two children were unhurt, although a relative and I were badly injured. I remembered nothing until my husband released me from the wreckage. I kept saying over and over, "God is my Life." Each time my husband answered me assuringly, "Yes, God is your Life."

I was taken to a hospital and a Christian Science practitioner was called, and took up the work immediately. My husband was told that several ribs, clavicle, and scapula were broken, my skull fractured, and that I had a severe injury to the trunk never to one are, glass cuts on face and head, and also severe shock. During the time I was in the emergency room, my husband kept saying "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 468), the definition of "God" (ibid., p. 587), and many other truths given by Mary Baker Eddy in our textbook, and also many Biblical texts. These helped him as well as me to become calm.

The doctor told my husband that he had better call my parents—that I simply could not survive. After talking to the practitioner, my husband knew that that so-called law was not true, because God is Life, therefore life could not be taken away from me. In the morning I was conscious, and, to the astonishment of the doctors, had improved.
