Signs of the Times

Topic: New Year

[John E. Marvin, in the Michigan Christian Advocate, Detroit]

A New Year begins. What will it bring? ... The map of the world may suddenly change. New empires may come and old ones go, for a year is a long time in a fast moving age like the present.

Most serene in all this turmoil is the Christian. That is, if he is a real Christian. The explanation for his calm, amid the world's volcanic eruptions, is his consummate belief and faith in God. Life may come and go, kingdoms wax and wane, but God endures forever and gives to the universe, and to the life in it, a stability not otherwise possible.
