As a last effort to save my six-months-old son I turned to Christian Science, and telephoned to a practitioner, asking for help. From the time of my son's birth I had failed to find a food that would agree with him, and he had not gained in weight since that time. The doctors held out very little hope, because I had had influenza and pneumonia three months before the child was born. As soon as I obtained Christian Science help, the baby was instantaneously healed, slept peacefully for four hours, and from that time on digested whatever food I gave him. Today he is a big, strong boy of nineteen years.

This experience convinced me that there is great value in the spiritual law revealed in the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Although I had previously been very much opposed to Christian Science and to Christian Scientists, I immediately began to study the textbook to learn the important truths it held. However, although I prayed earnestly for guidance in the care of my son, and turned only to Christian Science for his needs, I did not apply this Science to my own needs for many months. After I began to apply it to my own problems, I passed through a number of difficult experiences—some of which were very unpleasant—while the whole condition of my life was being changed to a new and better one. It is now plain that the solving of each problem forwarded the dropping off of error and the taking on of greater good.

At one time my son was healed of a serious fever while a practitioner sat beside his bed praying. At another time his head was gashed deeply by the fall of a sharp, heavy piece of a block and tackle. With the aid of a faithful practitioner this was completely healed in seven days, so that only a very slight scratch showed, although blood poisoning had previously set in. At the end of the seven days, which was also the end of a holiday, my son went to school. There the school physician examined him, for it was the custom of the school to have physical examinations for all the boys at that time. No trace of the injury was noted by the doctor, and my son was given a high health rating.
