Far from being a spiritualist movement, Christian Science...

La Queste

Far from being a spiritualist movement, Christian Science is the opposite of spiritualism. It teaches that there can be but one Spirit, as there is but one God. As man is the image and likeness of God, he must be spiritual.

The teachings of Christian Science are in no way esoteric, for they are based on the Bible. And if they seem to some people to present anything mysterious, it is only that "the spiritual sense of truth must be gained before Truth can be understood" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 272). Christian Science is a purely religious movement.

Christian Scientists make it a rule not to enter into any controversy. Obedient to the Golden Rule and speaking only of what they know and have demonstrated of this teaching, Christian Scientists can affirm that Christian Science is not spiritualism.
