Because I have recently been restored to health, after a severe attack of influenza, through the kindly ministration of Christian Science, my thought turns back in grateful memory over the forty years since this blessed truth came into our home through the wonderful healing of a daughter from serious spinal trouble and nerve exhaustion.

As a child I was considered very delicate, and being the youngest of a family of eight children I was given tender care and attention.

In 1898, thirty-one years after my marriage, Christian Science came to us with its healing power and rich blessings, and as a result countless proofs of God's power have been experienced. I have been healed of frequent fainting attacks, which according to physicians were caused by a defective heart action; also of a severe attack of sciatic rheumatism, and of a constant tendency to weakness and fatigue. During the succeeding years our entire family has had many convincing proofs of the never-failing efficacy of Christian Science.

In my eighty-fifth year a fall resulted in four distinct fractures just below the hip joint. Again Christian Science came to my rescue, and today I walk without a limp, going upstairs and down with freedom. I rejoice today in the fact that "no faculty of Mind is lost" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 407).

Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God for the proofs of His healing power; to our beloved Leader for the revelation of this blessed truth; and to the faithful practitioner who has so lovingly and patiently guided our footsteps along the upward way.

It is with a sense of deepest gratitude that I confirm the statements of my dear mother as to my own healing and her splendid freedom in advanced age. I recall that the state of my mother, before taking up Christian Science, was one of frailty, which I am happy to add has now completely changed, in verification of our Leader's statements on page 246 of our textbook: "The radiant sun of virtue and truth coexists with being. Manhood is its eternal noon, undimmed by a declining sun," and that man may now "enjoy more than threescore years and ten and still maintain his vigor, freshness, and promise."

As to my own experience, after being condemned as a young girl to a life of inactivity and invalidism, Christian Science has given me many years of boundless freedom and joyous activity in the Cause of Truth.

While we are deeply grateful for the many physical healings our family has experienced, in the words of one of our well-loved hymns (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 342),

We come today to bring Him praise
Not for such gifts alone,
But for the higher, deeper ways
In which His love is shown.
