Sunday School Notes and Comments

Many boys and girls in the Christian Science Sunday School have been made happy by the introduction of a partial payment plan in the Sunday school. This plan enables pupils to purchase their own copies of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy by making convenient payments each week. When the payments have been finally completed, they procure the books for themselves at the local Reading Room; that is, if the books have not already been delivered to them.

When the partial payment plan was first announced in letters sent by the board of a branch church to Sunday school teachers and parents, it received an immediate response. Its object was to encourage pupils not only to own their textbooks, but to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Regarding the Lesson-Sermon Mrs. Eddy says in the Manual of The Mother Church (Art. III, Sect. 1) that upon it "the prosperity of Christian Science largely depends." One mother said that only through this plan had her daughter been able to buy the books.

The Christian Science Board of Directors has no objection to this partial payment plan in connection with branch church Sunday schools, although it is not used in the Sunday school of The Mother Church.
