My attention has been called to a reference to Christian Scientists...

My attention has been called to a reference to Christian Scientists in a recent issue.

The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 367): "The tender word and Christian encouragement of an invalid, pitiful patience with his fears and the removal of them, are better than hecatombs of gushing theories, stereotyped borrowed speeches, and the doling of arguments, which are but so many parodies on legitimate Christian Science, aflame with divine Love."

Christian Scientists do not ignore evil, sickness, or trouble. They apply spiritual law to the solving of problems presented to them, and because such treatment has proved satisfactory, it has resulted in the establishment of Christian Science churches throughout the world. Thousands have been healed of disease and sickness, invalids raised from couches of pain, inebriates and slaves to drugs freed and brought back to usefulness among their fellow men, the blind once more given their sight, and the lame made to walk.

The Christian Scientist strives to be a good citizen, neighbor, and friend. He is tolerant and kindly towards the religious convictions of others, and obeys the Golden Rule.
