In the interesting address reported in a recent issue of your paper, the statement is made that people not satisfied with institutional religion are joining Christian Science and other "fancy isms."

It is true that very many people are turning to Christian Science and joining the church, the reason being that it teaches the Science of Life, or real being. Mary Baker Eddy says: "Jesus of Nazareth was the most scientific man that ever trod the globe. He plunged beneath the material surface of things, and found the spiritual cause" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 313). The same Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Christian Science, as its name denotes, is the Christ Science or true knowledge of God, and of man, God's image and likeness. Therefore it is attracting men and satisfying them by an understanding of the real meaning of life, and the ability through Christ to prove or demonstrate the great truths Jesus taught. So if by "fancy isms" one means something "dependent upon fancy; whimsical" (Webster), Christian Science is certainly not a fancy ism. Again, Christian Science has no connection with spiritualism; it cultivates in relation to human affairs the spirit of Christ, Truth—"the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."
