With the aid of Christian Science I have demonstrated man's control over sin, sickness, and unemployment; and seemingly lost articles have been returned to their owner.
I should like to tell of a very helpful experience I had when moving to a distant state to seek employment, some years ago. Just before I left, a friend handed me a small slip of paper on which she had written two Bible references. As soon as I was comfortably seated in my Pullman, I looked up these references. The first was from Job: "God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof." What a comforting thought for one going into a new country among stranger! I saw that I need have no anxiety about finding the proper place, for indeed this was already provided; all that was necessary was to avail myself of what God had made ready. The second reference was from Exodus: "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." This wonderful promise quickly dispelled any thought of worry that might have crept in.
Upon reaching my destination I proceeded to find the place which was waiting for me. How did I go about it? Did I sit idly by, and wait? No! I started out in an orderly, confident manner to seek employment, keeping ever in thought the references mentioned above. There seemed to be but few vacancies in the type of work I was seeking. The thought was often expressed that it was too late in the season, and that the jobs were all taken. However, I knew that my job was not taken by someone else. Day after day more contacts were made, and more assurance expressed that the right place would be found; and in due time I had the opportunity of choosing between two very good positions. I shall never cease to be grateful for this experience.
