Although my testimony is in the chapter on "Fruitage" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I feel I owe a further expression of gratitude, and write this, hoping that it may help others, as testimonies have so often helped me. In the past thirty years I have been wonderfully protected from accidents and infection.

Some years ago, I began cleaning heavy garments with some petrol, which was not so refined as that used today. At least two gallons were exposed, and the window and door were closed. Suddenly I felt as though I had no limbs, could scarcely see, and was fast losing consciousness. I at once declared that God was ever present and was my Life, and I knew that He would guide me to the door, which I now could see only dimly. I had no fear and, although scarcely conscious, I reached the door and found the handle. As I opened it, fresh air from an open door at the end of the passage revived me, and I was very soon none the worse for the experience.

When I was in the Pyrenees many years ago, my heel slipped on the polished floor at the top of a long flight of stone stairs, and I was catapulted headforemost down them, missing fourteen steps. When I saw the banisters flashing past me, I instantly declared, "God is my Life." I landed on my left shoulder, just bruising it. Those who saw me fall were convinced that I had been killed, and were greatly relieved when they heard me speak.
