The Practitioner

You gave me friendship,
Deep, enduring, strong;
With wondrous patience.
When the days seemed long,
And filled with earthly sorrow, hurt, and pain,
You led me upward to the light again.

You gave me hope,
When sometimes hope had fled,
And words of courage.
Constantly, you said
That God is infinite, all Life, and over all,
And man as His reflection cannot fall.

You gave me faith,
Your faith that never failed,
When doubts and fears within my thought prevailed;
And giving these I saw your own life prove
The vision of the Christ,
Through unselfed love.
