Security

No earthly gold or gain can buy security,
Or lend assurance to the passing years,
Guard from the ills that haunt all mortal seeming,
Or bulwark prove against its surging fears.

But whoso dwelleth in the secret fastness
Of the Most High, security shall know.
No restless striving for the things that perish—
Peace like a river through his days shall flow!

Only the selfhood that is God-created
Can know the permanence of Spirit's power;
Can rest secure in the divine providing,
Safe and content and joyful every hour.

Only the Love that passeth understanding,
Only the wideness of infinity,
Only the all-embracing Father-Mother
Can give the guerdon of security.
