I am grateful to God for the many blessings received...
I am grateful to God for the many blessings received through Christian Science, and its pure, scientific revelation of Christ's Christianity.
It came to me some twenty years ago, at a time when I was considered by the medical faculty to be beyond human aid, being in bondage to a chronic form of heart disease, consumption of both lungs, and the severe effects of sunstroke, of which I had had several attacks while in the African bushveld. Physician after physician handled my case, as did the Heart Hospital, London, but in spite of all the kindly attention and medical skill, conditions grew steadily worse until I felt that the end was near and that any day I might pass away.
In this extremity, and as a last resort, I reached out to God, whatever and wherever He might be, earnestly praying to be allowed to live and do some good in the world, no matter how humble the task. This right desire comforted me and was soon to be rewarded. The next day a Christian Scientist visited my home, and hearing of my plight asked to see me, declaring that she was certain that even if every material remedy had failed, Christian Science could cure me.
