Christian Science declares that sickness is the result of error, or various errors, chiefly fear; and fear, it declares, is destroyed by divine Love. Mrs. Eddy says on page 410 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Christian scientific practice begins with Christ's keynote of harmony, 'Be not afraid!'" And Christian Science reveals that God, good, being the only power, we need not be afraid.

God is the great I AM. He is constant, unchanging good. The following passage from Science and Health (p. 445) gives the Christian Science thought on the subject: "Christian Science silences human will, quiets fear with Truth and Love, and illustrates the unlabored motion of the divine energy in healing the sick."

Christian Science teaches that words alone are vain; that it is by works that a man proves his faith. Christian Science is found healing the sick, comforting the sorrowing, reforming the sinner, and bringing about better conditions wherever it is accepted and practiced.
