For more than thirty years Christian Science has been my only help in every need. Up to that time I had suffered much, knowing very few days free from pain. Every possible remedy was tried, but I only grew worse. Then I had to go out into the world alone and earn my own living. It was very hard and at times almost impossible. The doctors did all they could for me, and I consulted many. I was told that an operation was necessary, but I would not consent to that. I was very much discouraged and felt that nothing more could be done for me, but consented to a thorough examination by another specialist. He told me the condition was a cancerous tumor, that I was beyond human help, and could not live more than two weeks.

Then a dear friend advised me to try Christian Science. I knew nothing about it, but thought it might relieve some of the suffering, so I talked to a practitioner and asked for treatment. She lovingly assured me that Truth could heal me, and told me to get a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read and study it. I did so and began to improve slowly. Then I started going to church and attended all the services. After six weeks' treatment, the practitioner told me I could take care of myself. I did not think I was healed, but followed her advice. I continued to improve slowly for about five weeks, then the condition dissolved and has never returned.

I have had many other beautiful healings, one of a badly burned hand, caused by an explosion in a gas furnace, when the whold hand was covered with a hard brown crust. After two hours' faithful work, applying the truth the best I knew, and with the help of a member of my family, I went to bed, although there seemed to be no relief. I fell asleep repeating "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468) and wakened in the morning healed. The hand was normal, without a mark.
