The letter from a local physician in the Detroit News...

News

The letter from a local physician in the Detroit News undoubtedly refers to Christian Science, as press dispatches stated that funeral services for a certain public person were conducted by a Christian Scientist.

Not all your readers will agree that those who endeavor to follow literally the command of Christ Jesus to heal the sick are "totally unqualified persons," as the doctor avers. Nor is Christian Science a "cult" but a world-wide, established religion, and as such is recognized by the laws of the United States.

Christian Science has brought renewed health and activity to thousands of persons given up by reputable and qualified physicians, who frankly stated that they were unable to do more for them. Testimonies of those who have been healed of physical disease through Christian Science are published in the weekly, monthly, and quarterly Christian Science periodicals. At the Wednesday evening testimony meetings held in all Christian Science churches one may hear earnest and sincere expressions of gratitude for release from the bondage of sickness, sin, and enslaving habits given by those whose integrity is unquestioned. A signed letter by a well-known artist, expressing gratitude for the healing of blindness through Christian Science, appeared in the April 12, 1937, issue of Time magazine.
