I know that Christian Science is the truth about God
I know that Christian Science is the truth about God. Previous to August, 1922, I was an active worker in a church of another denomination. This religion did not satisfy me, and for months I prayed earnestly that I would know the truth about God. Then, because of a physical difficulty, I was led to ask a Christian Science practitioner to work for me. Not only was I healed of wearing glasses, but a wonderful sense of peace came to me and has remained with me these fourteen years. Truly, words are inadequate to express my appreciation.
More recently I had another proof of God's loving care. In the early summer of 1936 I fell very heavily on my knee. The pain was severe until I worked in Christian Science to know that there is no sensation in matter; then it subsided so that I was able to continue on a long walking trip. For some time my knee was very uncomfortable, so I went to New York City to see my teacher in Christian Science. I asked her to work for me. She advised me to go home and study for two hours every day for a period, then if I were not healed to come back, when she would gladly take up the work for me. I told her I would do it. About the seventh day after this, I read one morning for a half hour, then went on with my household duties. Later in the morning, on noticing that there was just enough time left for me to finish my studying, I was tempted to write some letters instead. But I resisted this, and decided to keep my promise to read for two hours each day. I felt very joyous about this decision to be obedient, and as I was going into another room to get my books, I distinctly felt something happening in my knee. I knew then that I had experienced a Christian Science healing. I know not how to express my gratitude for this demonstration of the power of Truth. Surely, the kingdom of heaven is here and now.
