The question is sometimes asked, Can Christian Science heal what doctors say is a real disease? And I answer, Yes, it can. On June 5, 1890, I was given up to die by two physicians and a nurse. I had lain unconscious for four days. The doctors said that all the doctors in the United States could not save me, as there never had been a case like mine healed by medical treatment. When this verdict was given, my sister asked my husband to try Christian Science. The doctors said: "Try anything to save the dear child. We have done all we can." A dispatch was sent to a practitioner, a student of Mrs. Eddy, and word came back: "There is hope. God is Life." I was healed, and as a result of the healing, from that day to this I have never touched one drop of medicine and I have never spent one whole day in bed because of sickness. The doctors called the difficulty the last stages of Bright's disease, brought to its final stage by pregnancy. What I was really healed of was hate, resentment, bitterness, and so forth.

I have had many other proofs that Christian Science heals.—
