Man's Business

Men engaged in the business world have ever aspired to profit and success. This has been the rightful goal of all, laborers and captains of industry alike. Yet all too often the record has been one of failure, or only of meager fulfillment. Men and women searching vainly for employment, or working wearily through drab days of confusion; executives burdened with responsibility and facing a possible impasse, may re-echo the laconic proverb of the Israelites, "The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth."

To all mankind, including such as these, Christian Science brings the enheartening message that there is a way out of human difficulties. Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Pref., p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." That success, achievement, and abundance are attainable here and now, is the glorious assurance of the Science of Christ. Jesus set forth this promise in his priceless instruction, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." In practical demonstration of this truth he successfully fed the multitudes, produced the needed tax money, and restored health and harmony to the suffering and frightened ones who sought his help.

The student of Christian Science learns that "the kingdom of God, and his righteousness," is found in a spiritual consciousness, in an understanding of the dominion of Mind and its ideas. Conversely, he learns that the world of persons and things, with its seeming contraries of good and evil, represents a materially mental condition, devoid of reality. He also learns that thought based on a knowledge of the allness of Spirit and the nothingness of matter and evil, produces a normal, harmonious state of affairs in human experience. Thus the business man finds the solution to his problems in pure spiritual-mindedness.
