The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Fourth Church). Lecturer: Mrs. Louise Wheatley Cook; introduced by Mrs. Angeline A. Pearsall, who said:—

It is recorded in the fifteenth chapter of the Gospel of John that Jesus, after explaining the way of true worship to his disciples, said, "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." We who have studied the Bible in the light of Christian Science find that this study, together with the application of the truths contained therein, brings joy as well as healing.

There comes a time in the experience of most individuals when an important decision must be made. Such a time came to the members of our family about thirty-one years ago, when my parents decided to turn to Christian Science for healing, instead of to the familiar and well-loved physician. My father was then healed in one day of a recurring malady which previously had confined him to bed for many weeks under medical care. This event showed us that Christian Science surpasses other systems of healing, and we eagerly took up its study, with the result that ever since we have found it adequate to meet our needs.
