With a view to correcting any false impression that may have been conveyed regarding Christian Science, permit me to refer to an article in a recent edition of the Star, under the caption, "Habits of Wei Wei Indians Held Conducive to Longevity." In this article a certain doctor is reported to have expressed his belief that "the Wei Weis are the original Christian Scientists," as their medicine men treat their patients through mental suggestion. It must be stated with all possible emphasis that the healing method of Christian Science has nothing whatever in common with mental suggestion. It will be readily admitted by those who believe in suggestion as a remedial agent that it represents an effort of the so-called human mind to control other human minds, and so improve bodily conditions; whereas, in the practice of Christian Science, God, Truth, the infinite divine Mind, is recognized as the sole governing power. This is the MInd to which the Apostle Paul referred when he wrote, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." It is the understanding of the power of Mind to overcome and destroy human ailments which heals both mind and body, in the practice of Christian Science as taught in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
