About twelve years ago, when there seemed to me to be no way out of sorrow and a great mental darkness, I expressed to a friend the thought that I could no longer carry on. She then offered to share with me that which she had to meet her every problem. She gave me a copy of the textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, with the explanation that through her study of Christian Science her freedom from many difficulties had been won.

I had been reared by a devout Christian mother and was a member of an orthodox church. But for many months, when I needed comfort and assurance of a God at hand, my understanding had been found wanting. Therefore I was glad to investigate anything that promised me relief from such mental agony. I began reading the textbook, and in a very short time had found a great sense of peace. Then the prejudice toward what I believed Christian Science to be left me. I had indeed found the Comforter promised in the Bible. Two young sons were placed in a Christian Science Sunday School, and I began attending the church services. From that time Truth has indeed met our every need.

In our home we have experienced many healings, some through our own understanding alone, and some with the loving help of practitioners. Among these was a healing of a severe burn on and around the eye, which was healed instantaneously with no discomfort. Another was the removal of a palm thorn, which according to medical authorities is very poisonous and dangerous, embedded in the flesh of my son's foot. Through the operation of Truth alone, the thorn came out within three days; and the lad did not have to be off his feet, but was able to enjoy all activities. Many so-called children's diseases have been overcome very quickly. Twice, when one of our boys manifested a so-called contagious disease, it was healed at once and the other boy was not touched by it.
