Among the Churches

Current Notes

Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England (Society).—Christian Science Society of Tunbridge Wells dedicated its church in Linden Park on Sunday, May 15, 1938, and there were large attendances at the morning and evening services.

A Christian Science church cannot be dedicated until it has been completely paid for, and it was therefore particularly gratifying to the members that the dedication services of this church could be held so soon after the completion of the building early in 1936.

The history of the Christian Science movement in Tunbridge Wells may be said to date from 1914, when the first Christian Science Society here was formed. Services were held in Vale Towers, and the work continued to go steadily forward until First Church of Christ, Scientist, Tunbridge Wells, came into being in 1921. Some years later, when the time came for this church to move to its permanent building in St. John's Road, a small group of Christian Scientists felt that there was a call for services at the other end of Tunbridge Wells.
