The Law of Spirit

Everyone has at heart the desire to be free from the false so-called laws of sin, sickness, and death, and, in its highest sense, this is an inherent desire to express our real sonship as children of God.

This state can never be reached in or through matter, for it is a spiritual state, and is gained only by understanding and practicing "the law of the Spirit of life." "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus," says Paul, "hath made me free from the law of sin and death."

In Christian Science we learn that God, Spirit, is All-in-all; that all intelligence, life, action, and government belong to God, and that sin, sickness, and death have no place in Spirit. In his epistle to the Galatians, Paul says, "If ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law;" and in "No and Yes" (p. 30) Mrs. Eddy tells us, "God's law is in three words, 'I am All;' and this perfect law is ever present to rebuke any claim of another law." This perfect law is the law which Paul said had made him free from the law of sin and death, and we find its true expression in Christ Jesus, who was the demonstrator of God's law of love. He knew the law of Spirit to be the only law, and through obedience to this law he revealed and demonstrated man's oneness with God.
