The Way

My need is great, dear Lord, I cried,
I seek surcease in Thee;
Leave what thou hast, the answer came,
And follow after Me.

My hurt is deep, again I cried,
How can I comfort bring?
In binding others' wounds, He said,
Thy heart shall learn to sing.

But I am weary, Lord, I cried,
I look to Thee for rest;
In giving solace, He replied,
Thou shalt be truly blest.

Obedient to Truth's demand,
I journeyed on the way—
Joy came, and peace walked softly near,
And glorious dawned Love's day.
