I am glad to express publicly my gratitude for the help which I have experienced in Christian Science. About six years ago I was seized with severe pains in the abdomen. The doctor who was summoned pronounced it appendicitis and peritonitis. He stated that the case was very serious and that it was too late for an operation, for there was already suppuration. But he advised my parents to take me to the hospital nevertheless. When the doctor had gone I asked my parents to get a Christian Science practitioner. She lovingly came to me, and it was as if an angel had come to me and freed me of my pain. After half an hour I could sit up and relish something to eat, and afterwards I sang the hymn "God is Love" (German Hymnal, No. 90). In the night the pain returned. But my dear mother and I constantly denied it and realized the fact that there is no pain in spiritual being, and that God is ever present. In a few days I could get up, and was so strong again that I could go out and pick flowers. This took place when I was twelve years old, and since that time I have felt no trace of the suffering, although I have not kept to the diet which the doctor prescribed for me. Also, through divine truth, I was healed in a short time of an inflammation of the joints.

I owe much gratitude for the fact that my dear mother has received many healings through Christian Science. I am especially grateful to the practitioner for her self-sacrificing love, and I am also deeply grateful that I may attend the church services.
