Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall...
Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I read this somewhere when I was very young, and often wondered just what it meant. I was convinced that I should find an explanation. Unfortunately, I took the wrong direction, and spent many valuable years wandering through the wilderness of occultism, spiritualism, and so forth, trying to find God, who I knew existed. However, I found nothing but confusion and unhappiness. Then, one day, I found Christian Science. In order to understand its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was obliged to study the Bible, for which I am most grateful, because until then this book had remained closed to me. The study of these two books lifted me out of the abyss in which my ill-directed studies had plunged me.
At this time the hope dawned of knowing the truth of which Jesus spoke. Mrs. Eddy tells us that God is Mind, Life, Truth, and Love. That was the answer I had sought. Shall I ever be able to express all the gratitude I feel toward Mrs. Eddy for this glorious revelation? The study of Science and Health has brought me peace and happiness. What a comfort it is to know that we are the sons of God, and not miserable sinners!
That when we plant ourselves on the foundation of Truth no evil can touch us, was proved to me recently. I started to go downstairs and stumbled on the first step. Error said, You are falling. But I cried aloud, "My God, my God!" and the presence of the Father-Mother, Love, which encircles and protects all His ideas, was instantly felt, for as I seemed to fall I knew that God's image and likeness cannot fall. Although the body tumbled down half the flight of stairs, I picked myself up, and there was only a slight wound on one foot. I never for an instant doubted my Father's protection, and continued on my way, walking about two kilometers without the slightest pain. How grateful we should be to our beloved Leader for her untiring efforts to give the world this precious truth which makes men free! My aim in life is to prove worthy of this gift. I dare not think what my life might have been without Christian Science.
