Over three years ago we were living in the southern part of France. My daughter had to make frequent business trips to Paris, and on one of these trips at the home of a friend she met a French Christian Scientist who had lived for a long time in the United States. In th course of the conversation, which turned to philosophy and religions, this lady spoke of Christian Science and told how she had been marvelously healed in one treatment of hemorrhage of the lungs more than twenty years before. My daughter was very much interested in this story and asked her if it was done by magnetism or autosuggestion. The woman replied that it was done by God. More and more interested and stirred, my daughter wished to go more deeply into this Science and decided before she left to buy "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and the Bible.

Upon her return to the country my daughter told me of this meeting and gave me the books to read. I was immediately interested in Science and Health. I had suffered for forty years with stomach trouble. At that time I was suffering increasingly and had almost been given up by a famous specialist who had had me X-rayed. After this examination the doctor was very pessimistic and did not conceal his fear from my daughter. he had found my stomach worn out, he told her, a condition which prevented it from functioning normally. He said that if I continued to grow thin and not to take nourishment he could do nothing more for me even with the remedies which he prescribed. A short time after this my daughter gave me the Science books. After reading and studying Science and Health for a few days I felt better and stronger, began again to take nourishment, and took no more remedies. Then we were obliged to go back to Paris, and there this lady whom my daughter had met on her previous trip became my practitioner and in two weeks I was completely healed, and have been very active ever since.

We are therefore very grateful to Christian Science, to Mary Baker Eddy, and to the devoted practitioner for this beautiful healing, and for all the benefits which we owe each day to Christian Science.
