The Day Breaketh

Be not impatient
That the way seems dark,
The path you tread so steep!
Your God has set His mark
Upon each blade of grass,
Each singing bird, each stone.
His thought you are! Love guides—
And you are not alone.

And be not weary
That the way seems long;
The small voice whispers, Courage—
His strength shall make you strong.
Look not into the shadows
Where self-pity bids you stay,
Count not the dragging hours—
But wait, and watch, and pray!

Thank God for good!
Each tender promise lives
For you and all who seek
The peace His wisdom gives;
And when in Truth's clear dawn
You glimpse the perfect day—
Sing, then, your glad thanksgiving
For Love's guidance all the way!
