I am grateful for the blessings that I have received...
I am grateful for the blessings that I have received through Christian Science, especially for comfort at the time when my father and my mother passed on, for as I glimpsed the true nature of God and man I realized that in God's universe there is no sorrow, separation, or death, but that all of God's children dwell together—joyous, perfect, and free, held in the glorious bonds of everlasting Life. This understanding guided me through the deep waters of sorrow to that perfect peace which comes with the understanding of man's present and everlasting perfection. My sorrow was turned into joy when I learned that man lives in Mind continuously, and is eternally perfect. And it is indeed comforting to me to have learned in Science that there is no period of adolescence; that man is neither young nor old; he has neither birth nor death; he is ageless, deathless, the child of eternity.
I also want to express my sincere gratitude for the healing of inflammatory rheumatism; for the understanding I gained through the study of Christian Science enabled me to know that a sick, stiff, swollen, deformed body had only the appearance I gave it in belief, and all that needed to be healed was my erroneous, sinful belief, of which the disease was the result. Each false belief disappeared exactly in proportion as I realized the specific truth required to destroy it, and when the right idea began to assert itself in my consciousness, it dispossessed me of the false belief of myself as material. And when I recognized my body as a concept of mortal mind, and beheld my true selfhood as the expression of God, perfect, whole, and free, I was healed.
For another proof of God's loving-kindness and sustenance I am most humbly grateful. I broke my right leg; and there was great laceration and profuse bleeding. I clung to the truth that there can be no accident in the divine Mind. I quickly realized that no change had taken place in God's perfect, spiritual universe, which is eternally held intact in the law of harmony. Mrs. Eddy's words on page 423 of Science and Health were helpful to me: "Bones have only the substance of thought which forms them." I was entirely healed during the night and went to work the next morning, being constantly upon my feet. The limb was at no time bandaged. I have also been healed of tonsillitis and hay fever.
