"Ready always"

Students of Christian Science may well ponder the Apostle Peter's admonition, "Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you." Rarely are opportunities lacking wherein any Christian Scientist may helpfully "give an answer" based on his own experience and conviction.

Every Wednesday evening, at meetings in hundreds of Christian Science churches, there are men and women who are in the early stages of their investigation and study of Christian Science. Their very presence at these meetings implies a desire to learn the "reason of the hope that is in" the hearts of those who have been blessed by Christian Science. Many seekers attend the meetings to obtain evidence of the practicality of Mary Baker Eddy's priceless gift to humanity of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in which she records her discovery of Christian Science, and clearly states its divine Principle and rules.

The expressed or implied appeal of those seekers is directed to all who have proved the present availability of divine guidance and protection, who have been beneficiaries of its healing power; to all who have partaken in some measure of that "unspeakable peace which comes from an all-absorbing spiritual love" (Science and Health, p. 264).
